Dungeon hunter alliance — playstation vita

Story

The story begins with the marriage of the King and his beloved who shortly dies on what should be the happiest day of their lives. The King not wishing to accept her death performs a dark ritual to bring her back to life but in doing so unleashes darkness and terror onto the world. His beloved who has also been corrupt by this darkness then murders him and sets out on her new ambition to take over the world of Gothicus. Players then take upon the role of the King in the game who is resurrected soon after his death by the fairies in order to bring peace and balance back to the world by stopping the now tyrannical Queen and the impending doom that she is about to bring to the world.

Overview

Dungeon Hunter is a dungeon crawler Action RPG developed by Gameloft and was originally released on the iPhone on September 14th, 2009. It was later ported to the PlayStation 3 and released via the PlayStation network under the name Dungeon Hunter: Alliance on April 12th, 2011. Several months later, on November, 11th 2011, it was then published as Dungeon Hunter: Alliance on Mac . Finally it received a retail release as a launch title on the PlayStation Vita under the alias Dark Quest: Alliance in Japan on December 17th, 2011 and once again under the name Dungeon Hunter: Alliance on February 15th, 2012 in the US and February 22nd, 2012 in Europe.

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar in style to Diablo or Torchlight and borrows all of its gameplay elements from the aforementioned games and other games in the genre. As is common with the genre, players select between one of three classes at the beginning of the game with each class being suited towards a certain style of combat and attribute more than others.

The three classes from which players may choose are:

Class Type Specialty
Warrior

Favourite Attribute: Strength

Combat Specialty: Melee combat

Mage

Favourite Attribute: Energy

Combat Specialty: Magic

Rouge

Favourite Attribute: Dexterity

Combat Specialty: One-on-one attacks

Each class also has unique skill and abilities. While some provide benefits such as increasing the amount of potions that the player can carry at one time others include special attacks and abilities and players may equip up to three of these at once. When players level up they are given two points to distribute in one of the four attributes (energy, endurance, dexterity and strength) as well as being given a skill point to further develop their class-specific skills by either unlocking a new skill on the skill tree or upgrading an already unlocked ability.

Aside from the main story mode, there is also the Pit of Trials mode which is unlocked when players level their character up to level 25 which is essentially an endless survival mode where players can test their combat skills and see how long they can withstand an endless enemy assault.

Vita-exclusive features

Using the front touch screen of the Vita players may zoom the game’s camera in or out, bring up the map or character sheet and manage their inventory. When players are either stunned or confused by enemies in combat they must shake the system in order to regain control of their character. Finally, the fairy which accompanies the player may be controlled via the rear touchpad and the fairy’s magic spell which causes damage to all nearby opponents is activated via a double touch of the front touch screen.

Gameplay

The game is set in a fantasy universe. Three character classes – mage, rogue, and warrior – are playable, with the game taking place over 30 levels in environments including dungeons, forests, and villages, which include randomly generated areas. Single quests are estimated to last 8 hours. Players can restart their game after completing all quests on an Elite mode, which enables them to level up to level 75.

Multiplayer mode supports up to 4 players on a single server. Each player works together to complete the current quest of the host player, although players who are not on that quest in singleplayer mode will not have their data saved except for items and experience. Each player is assigned a color and their character can only pick up items with that color around them, ensuring each player gets an equal amount of loot. Unlike in singleplayer, when a character dies, the other players have a chance to revive him or her instead of having to completely restart the level. When all players die, the level will be restarted however.
